Lessons I Learned in February 2014

I’m so happy to participate in Emily’s monthly sharing of things we’ve learned. I’ve been looking forward to it, but had to wait until my new blog was complete. Since I missed January, I’m going to share what I learned in both of the first two months of the year.

I learned at least one lesson the hard way. When the temperatures drop to single digits and the weatherman says you ought to insulate your pipes to prevent bursting, he’s right. Thank God for plumbers who forego their supper and work overtime in frigid darkness to help a sister out!

We had a lot of snow in February. Can you see the giant snowflakes falling?

Notice the new blog? I’ve been scattered all over the Internet for a long time and finally said, “Enough already!”  I decided to streamline, de-clutter, delete, and make this blog my home base so I can focus on. one. thing. (Well, this other thing too.) I’ve been learning Genesis, which is new to me, and a bunch of other bloggy techy stuff that stretches me to the limits of my mental capacities.

And I have big news! I finally got a smart phone! Actually, my dad upgraded to a new iPhone and gave me his old one, but it’s my first smart phone so I’ve been learning all about it. Love it!

I’ve been using the Sleep Study app on my new phone which has confirmed what I already knew- I don’t sleep! But at least now I have graphs and charts so I can prove to everybody why I’m a trifle crazy.

I audited Carol Tice’s 4 week journalism course and it completely exceeded my expectations. I can’t even begin to tell you how many new things I learned, but it sure fired me up to take my writing to the next level.

With all the cold weather, I’ve been trying a lot of recipes, which is really odd since I hate to cook. Most of them were flops or close to it, but this Cheesy Vegetable Chowder is deee-licious!

Writing  Prompt: I hope you’ll join in next month and share what you’ve learned in Emily’s link-up.

  1. Great list! Welcome to the iPhone world. I love mine. :)

  2. I’m so happy to catch up with you Bonita. I’ve slipped you into my reader – so now I’ll be able to keep up with your post.
Since i last “saw” you, I’ve completed the first draft of a book. Your words encouraged me, and you didn’t even know it.

    • Linda, that is so awesome that you’ve written a book!!! I’m so proud of you! I look forward to hearing what you plan to do with it.
