The Man of God Speaks

Every Wednesday night our church has Back to the Basics Bible Study. The cool thing is for those of us who can’t attend or who miss a session we can listen online.

A few weeks ago when I was out of town a very special man of God spoke. I wish I’d been there. I really, really wish I’d been there, but the timing was all wrong since I was physically in another state.

That man of God is John Lillie and he’s my wonderful husband! Last night I listened to his message and thought I’d give you the opportunity to listen too if you feel so inclined. You can find his message by clicking on the purple words Back to the Basics Bible Study and then scrolling until you find the message “Jesus, Our Eternal Life” on July 8, 2009.

Let me tell you why I love to listen to him teach. It isn’t just because he’s my husband, though I am very proud of him. Aside from the fact that he’s a really good Bible teacher (he says he’s rusty, but I think not), he lives the messages he teaches. You see, I listen to a lot of people preach and teach, but the reality is that I have no idea how most of those people live in day to day life. However, with this particular Bible teacher I KNOW how he lives and his words and his walk look the same.

I see my husband get up early every single day of his life and spend time studying God’s word and praying. I know that God is first place in his life. I also see him get up every day and go to work to provide for his family. Even in times like right now when the economy stinks and sales are just plain hard, he gets up and goes out to conquer the world for me and the kids. I also see the way he treats us in day to day life: even tempered, easygoing, fun, protective, loving, encouraging, patient. He overlooks my flaws- and they are many- as well as my lack of domesticity. He always believes the best of his family. He’s stable, reliable, never moody or unpredictable.
He’s just a great guy to have around!

All that to say, if you get a chance to listen to his message I know you’ll be blessed!
