Colonial Williamsburg- Justice

DSC01578 The courthouse. We attended a trial here. I volunteered Melissa to be Christiana Campbell a tavern owner who was bringing a case against a fellow that was frequenting her tavern. She did a splendid job. I served a nobleman who sat with the judge and made decisions about the cases.

The capitol. This is where the big stuff happened.

DSC01523 The capital court room. You didn’t want to ever appear here as a defendant or a juror. The jurors were sent to an upstairs room to debate cases and they were denied heat, food, water, light, and bathroom privileges until they reached a unanimous vote. Talk about swift justice!

DSC01524 I believe this was the governor’s meeting room.

DSC01526A picture of Queen Charlotte appears in the house of Burgesses room. My city is named after her.

DSC01581  It appears a couple of characters got into some trouble on their visit to Williamsburg. Can’t imagine who they are!
