Bet You Never Heard This Said at a Wedding!

Friday night our friends, DaVon and Stacy, got married. They are friends from church and this was the first wedding we’ve attended with our church since we’ve only been there two years. What a fun time and a beautiful wedding outside in front of a pond with a fountain!

My pastor said two funny things that I’ve never heard at a wedding. He and DaVon are great friends so he had a few liberties he might not have at other weddings.

When DaVon was reciting his vows to Stacy things went along as usual with our pastor saying the words and DaVon repeating them. Near the end he threw in an extra line, “I promise to be your Big Daddy from now on.” We all cracked up as DaVon dutifully repeated the words he’d heard.

At the reception our pastor prayed over the food. It started out the usual way, but quickly diverted to “and please let this reception get over in a hurry so they can get on with the honeymoon!”

As you can tell, our pastor isn’t a stiff, formal guy and we love him for it.

When my husband and I renewed our vows at ten years, the pastor started Kevin's vow by saying, "repeat after me: I LOVE you!"

I loved it! Your friends will NEVER forget their vows!
