The Art of Gratitude

A few days ago Miss Sandy at Quill Cottage had a post about the art of gratitude. Being the copycat blogger that I am I decided to do something similar on my blog. However, please visit her blog because she's just so much more graceful with the topic than I am.

These are five things that I'm grateful for today:

1. Heat. Our old furnace was resurrected, rigged, and generally propped up so many times that we figured it was time to get a new one before we got stuck on a cold winter's day without any heat. We are still getting used to the new one as it is powerful and it only takes a few minutes to get the whole house toasty and beyond. I'm so thankful for heat as we ease into the cooler months.

2. God's acceptance. I'm so glad that God looks at the heart and not just our works and outward appearance. He sees the real person on the inside and he accepts us just as we are, faults and all.

3. The ablility to help others. As we head into the holiday season I find myself wanting to give more and do more for others. I admit that for a while that desire has been dormant, but it's coming back to life and I'm looking for ways to be a blessing.

4. God's word. In a chaotic, unsteady world, I'm so glad that I have a sure foundation to rest on and to look to for wisdom and guidance.

5. My cat. Once again, my cat had an abcess on his face. He's an outdoor cat and quite the bully. He picks fights with all sorts of animals way wilder and bigger than him. Unfortunately, he has the battle scars to prove it, including this new infection. On Monday he was all swollen and had to make an emergency trip to the vet. He's on the mend now and enjoying his sojourn in the house. He's bad to the bone, but we love him.

What about you? What five things are you grateful for today?

I enjoyed Miss Sandy's post too. It made me stop and think about just how much there is to be thankful for. Always a pleasure to visit your blog and I am so thankful that your cat is on the mend. Pets have a way of giving us love and comfort too, don't they?

This was just the post I needed to read today! I loved your #3 because you were honest about not really being into that for a season but how God was bringing you back to it. God is speaking to my heart in a similar way. :)

I'll post about my 5 things a little later this morning.

Love you!
Sonya

I enjoy getting to know more about you Bonita. You must be a caregiver by nature, difficulty in saying no to others in need, just like me :). I enjoy cat's as well, but I keep them in the house as who knows what kind of trouble they'd get in at the neighbors.

A wonderful day to you,
Blessings,
Kathi :)

Hi Bonita,

That was so very sweet of you to leave a link and totally not necessary. I am glad you are passing on the gratitude.

Here are my five things for today:

1.) That Jesus loves me despite all my faults.
2.) For Point of Grace who serenaded my heart to the brink of heaven today with their beautiful voices and a meaningful message I needed to hear in the lyrics of one of their songs.
3.) A thoughtful daughter who surprised me by doing a chore on her lunch hour that I was unable to get done before I had to leave this morning.
4.) That today a need was met and it made me feel totally loved by God.
5.) That today a prayer was answered and it strengthened my faith.

I hope the remainder of your week is wonderfully blessed! Can I add another?
6.) For Bonita, for taking the time to write her newsletter to encourage others. This weeks letter really struck a chord in me and was an affirmation to follow the message on your heart. Great advice.

There's one big thing I'm thankful for today, Bo! I made a 90 on my Advanced Antepartum test and finished that huge course with a high B! I feel such an overwhelming sense of relief to have one more course off the radar!
