My beautiful friend, Nester, is hosting a party this week. I love, love, love Nester because she has made me believe that little ole domestically-challenged me can decorate my house, even on my miniscule decorating budget and with relatively no skill in that arena. And guess what? Nester lives in my city!!!! That's all I'll say for now on that topic, but you can expect something even more exciting a little later down the road.
For the party, we're supposed to post pictures of things in our house that are imperfectly beautiful. Well, I just got back from four days in Denver and my house is a little over the top on imperfect right now. I thought I wouldn't participate in Nester's event since I have nothing but clutter and mounds of laundry facing me at the moment, but then I thought of something that I truly do think is imperfectly beautiful- my square foot gardens!
As you can tell from these pictures the beauty of these gardens does not reside in their visual appeal. You won't find fancy birdbaths, rocks, ponds, or beautiful lattice work here. What makes these gardens beautiful is the fact that they are growing, producing, and bearing bountiful fruit- tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. You see, I'm a brown thumb, or at least I used to be. I'm just so happy to be able to provide fresh veggies for our table and that, my friends, is what makes these gardens bee-you-tee-full!
To see more imperfectly beautiful posts fly on over to Nester's blog. You'll be glad that you did!

Hey Bonita!
So happy that you are in! I have heard about these square foot gardens and I cannot believe that you have both a brown thumb and a square foot! That sounds like world record material to me!
Look at the bountiful harvest you will have--very impressive!

We did a raised garden too. I hope it grows as big as yours.
I've just recently read about square foot gardening. I'm so glad it's working for you. I think it sounds like a bite sized way of approaching growing vegetables and other plants. Seeing yours makes me want to try it!
I'm glad I was able to visit your blog today!
Hmmm - decorating your house or growing food for your family??? Sounds like someone has her priorities straight! ;)Nancy
My hubby has 5 tomato plants in the backyard and watching them grow is so exciting! I branched out with basil, parsley, and cilantro this year. I feel salsa and sauce in my future!
My hubby and I just planted our first 2 square foot gardens about 3 weeks ago. We got a late start for Texas, but we have a long growing season, so we'll just have to wait longer to see the fruits of our labor. I hope our thumbs are as green as yours are in your square foot garden! Every square has little starts or small plants peaking through now, so I think we are off to a good start!
I've never heard of a square foot garden! Yours DOES look beautiful...will you have me over for some pico de gallo with all those maters and peppers??? Oh, yum!
I'm so glad to see that someone else posted about their garden! Yours looks gorgeous, Bonita! I love nothing more than to see that others are interested in growing their own food. Grow on!
I love your garden and What a nice person you are to want to share your bounty with family and friends. I love to watch things grow. I think being outside in a garden of any kind brings us closer to God.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Bonita! Your garden looks just beautiful. Here in the desert I've been a little afraid to even try gardening....but I sure would love to be able to gather up some fresh veggies right in my own yard!
I wish I could grow a garden! It looks great!
A square foot garden! How cool! Now that sounds like something I could handle.
Thanks for visiting my blog! To answer your question, the previous owners of the house had hung the first curtains. They are hung on a suspended steel cable. I then used drapery hook to hang the curtains on the cable. It's probably not what I would have chosen. But now that I have it, I really like it.
I'm trying my hand at a tiny bit of gardening for the first time this year... with the hopes of having fresh tomatoes and basil to make a great pizza margherita! From the looks of things you're doing a beautiful job; I'd never guess you're a brown thumb!
Thanks for visiting over at my place! Glad to hear that we're not the only ones whose "five year plan" may turn into a "25 year plan"! Home renovations never seem to end!
Thank you Bonita, for all your kind words! I appreciate it so much. And wow what a great looking garden you have. We are going to go for a bigger garden next year, you've done a great job with it.
Thanks for stopping by & for all the encouraging comments.

PS Hope you and the Nester get together. I know she will be lots of fun to meet & if she lived in my town, I'd be knocking on her door asking her to come out & play!
We know you will have the tastiest little square foot around!! Looks perfect to us!!
blessings,
kari & kijsa
