Sewing Tips

I saw this on another blog and just had to share it here. It comes from a 1949 Singer Sewing Machine manual.

"Prepare yourself mentally for sewing. Think about what you are going to do. Never approach sewing with a sigh or lackadaisically. Good results are difficult when indifference predominates.

Never sew with a sink full of dirty dishes or beds unmade. When there are urgent housekeeping chores, do these first so that your mind is free to enjoy your sewing.

When you sew, make yourself as attractive as possible. Put on a clean dress. Keep a little bag of French chalk near your sewing machine to dust your fingers at intervals. Have your hair in order, powder and lipstick on.If you are constantly fearful that a visitor will drop in or your husband will come home and you will not look neatly put together, you will not enjoy sewing as you should."

And this, my friends, is precisely the reason I don't sew!

That's hilarious! I can't even begin to imagine. My poor husband. :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I always enjoy meeting new people and reading their blogs.
I will definitely be back to read more, but I must go pick up my little girl from school & take my son to the doctor. Possible strep throat. :(
Have a great rest of your day!
Blessings,
Lelia

Oh my, that is too funny! I don't sew either, though I wish I could! Maybe this is the reason it never stuck with me...I'm just not presentable enough most of the day! LOL!

I would have been a social outcast in 1949 :-)

Oh my! Now I know why I don't get much sewing done! I think that somewhere in my past this must have been unconsciously taught to me. I always have to have my housework done before I allow myself to relax at my sewing machine. Fortunately the same 'rules' do NOT apply to computers! I use my laptop any time, day or night, work done or not!
